The pavilion extends architecture’s role beyond postwar reconstruction imagery to the immediate spatial needs of displaced people: stable housing, dignity, rest and the point at which survival can become living. The selection also gives an international platform to a volunteer-led adaptive-reuse housing initiative working during the war.
