Spain’s Directorate-General for Urban Agenda and Architecture launched an open design competition with jury intervention for the curatorship, exhibition design and touring curatorship of the Spanish Pavilion at the 20th Venice Architecture Biennale. The winner receives a €15,000 first prize credited against later professional fees. Additional awards are €5,000, €3,000 and two €1,000 honorable mentions.

Status and timeline

Open competition announced in Spain’s Official State Gazette. Proposals are due September 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Madrid time. The subsequent commission covers curatorship, exhibition design and touring versions.

Design highlights

Entries will be evaluated for thematic fit, the quality and relevance of exhibition resources, exhibition concept, and technical and economic feasibility.
