About this story
The exhibition CONVIVERE – A Repertoire of Living Together was selected through an open competition for Germany’s contribution to the 20th Venice Architecture Biennale. The curatorial team comprises Tatsuya Kawahara and Ellen Kristina Krause of KAWAHARA KRAUSE ARCHITECTS, Andres Lepik and Olga Cobuscean. Students and researchers from four German universities will contribute documentation and visualizations of shared spatial conditions in housing.
Status and timeline
Curatorial team and central concept announced August 31, 2026. Further exhibition details are expected in early 2027. The Biennale runs May 8–November 21, 2027.
Design highlights
The exhibition shifts attention from whole buildings to thresholds, stairs, courtyards, terraces and spaces outside front doors, examining how these transitional areas support encounters, trust, neighborliness and democratic coexistence.
