Perched within a prestigious oceanfront tower, Oceanview Aerie by Cabrera-Caruso Architecture & Design is a masterful blend of classical refinement and modern sophistication.

Designed as a weekend retreat for a multi-generational family, the residence effortlessly balances luxury and comfort, offering an elegant yet inviting space that harmonizes with Miami’s vibrant coastal lifestyle. Infused with a monochromatic palette, reflective surfaces, and exquisite natural stone, the apartment is a dynamic canvas that enhances and frames the breathtaking ocean views. The vision for Oceanview Aerie was to reimagine the traditional beach house, transforming a spacious unit into a polished yet relaxed haven. Designed to accommodate both intimate family gatherings and formal events, the home needed to seamlessly adapt to different functions. Cabrera-Caruso Architecture & Design (CCAD) approached the project with an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship, creating a space that is equally suited for lavish entertaining and laid-back movie nights after a sun-soaked day at the beach. At its core, the design embodies duality—elegance and functionality, contrast and cohesion, sophistication and ease. Every detail was meticulously curated to enhance both the aesthetic and the livability of the space, ensuring that luxury never compromised comfort.

Drawing inspiration from the client’s affinity for black-and-white aesthetics, the design embraces a bold yet timeless monochromatic palette. Turkish Aqua White Marble flooring stretches throughout the apartment, providing a pristine canvas that amplifies natural light and sets a refined tone. In the kitchen, Sierra Neve Quartzite and Panda White Marble introduce high-contrast elements that add depth and visual intrigue without disrupting the overall cohesion. In the primary suite, Grey Ice Onyx takes center stage, its soft, luminous veining lending an air of serenity and understated opulence. The walls, adorned with hand-painted Phillip Jeffries wallpaper, contribute a layer of texture, ensuring that the restrained palette remains dynamic rather than stark. A striking departure from the otherwise neutral tones, a bold scarlet red accent in the primary bedroom—specifically requested by the client—infuses the space with warmth, drama, and an intimate personal touch.

The selection of materials was paramount in achieving the residence’s refined aesthetic. Every element was chosen not only for its visual impact but also for its ability to enhance the overall ambiance. Custom fluted Italian millwork, with its high-gloss finish, brings a sculptural quality to the cabinetry and paneling, introducing depth and tactility to the interiors. Polished stainless steel accents reinforce the sleek modernity of the space, while glass and mirror surfaces amplify natural light, creating an interplay of reflections that mimic the fluidity of the ocean. The thoughtful layering of textures ensures that the home feels both sophisticated and welcoming. By juxtaposing smooth, polished stone with handwoven textiles, CCAD successfully softened the starkness of the black-and-white palette, crafting an environment that is as inviting as it is elegant.

A key challenge in the project was adapting the residence to accommodate a large, multi-generational family while preserving its refined aesthetic. The transformation of the den into a stylish yet functional bunk room was a pivotal design move. By integrating custom millwork, space-efficient layouts, and sophisticated detailing, the designers created a playful yet cohesive retreat for the family’s grandchildren. This seamless integration of practicality and elegance underscores the project’s overarching philosophy—every space should be as beautiful as it is livable. The emphasis on functionality extended beyond spatial planning to material selection. Durable yet luxurious surfaces ensure that the home remains resilient to the wear and tear of frequent use, allowing the family to fully enjoy their retreat without concern. Bespoke furnishings, selected for their aesthetic appeal and ergonomic comfort, further reinforce the marriage of style and usability.

Every fixture was carefully chosen to complement the architectural elements, enhancing the apartment’s sophisticated ambiance. Reflective surfaces, combined with strategically placed lighting, create a sense of expansiveness, making the interiors feel both luminous and intimate. Custom-designed light installations add a sculptural element to the spaces, subtly reinforcing the design’s modern yet timeless appeal.
