Located within the historic Hacienda Sac Chich, Casa Sisal offers a serene retreat, separated by a vast lawn lined with towering Royal Palms from its neighboring residence, Casa de Maquinas. This thoughtful layout ensures maximum privacy while still maintaining a visual connection to the estate’s timeless elegance. The house is set within the two-acre former henequen drying fields, a landscape once used for the production of the agave fibers that shaped the region’s economy. Today, this same space provides a peaceful escape, where contemporary life and nature coexist effortlessly.

The architectural brilliance of Casa Sisal lies in its seamless connection between the indoors and outdoors. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors run the length of the living spaces, allowing natural light to flood the interior. When fully opened, the glass walls disappear into the structure, giving the impression of an outdoor pavilion. The house is built using locally sourced hardwoods, limestone, and a unique plaster finish created through the ancient Mayan technique of chukum. This method involves polishing the walls with natural resins, resulting in a sleek, smooth surface that adds warmth and texture to the minimalist design. The chukum finish not only provides durability but also connects the home to the history and traditions of the Yucatán, a subtle yet powerful reminder of the land's cultural heritage.
