ONE D+B MIAMI is a multidisciplinary design studio founded in 2007 by architect Hugo Mijares, whose vision merges conceptual design with hands-on craftsmanship. Based in Miami, the firm is distinguished by its seamless integration of architecture, fabrication, and material exploration. Each project—from residential spaces to civic installations and custom furniture—is approached with a refined balance of form, function, and fabrication. By maintaining a selective portfolio, the studio ensures close involvement throughout every phase, delivering work that is technically rigorous, environmentally conscious, and poetically expressive. Hugo Mijares brings a rich academic background to the studio, having studied architecture at UJMV, earned a master’s degree from USF, and completed post-professional studies at Harvard University. His design philosophy emphasizes the union of intellect and craft, where every project begins with a strong conceptual foundation, thoroughly examined through inquiry. This commitment to clarity of thought and aesthetic expression shapes the studio’s culture of precision, innovation, and deep material understanding. Influenced by both modernist and Latin American architectural traditions, ONE D+B MIAMI draws on the legacies of Paul Rudolph, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Le Corbusier, while embracing the regional sensibilities of Carlos Raúl Villanueva and Luis Barragán. Mijares’s distinctive architectural language reveals itself in expressive forms, contextual awareness, and a poetic use of space and material. Rooted in intellectual rigor and human-centered design, the studio continues to shape Miami’s design landscape with projects that are as purposeful as they are timeless.
