The Washington Commanders and HKS released the first interior renderings and animation of the team’s planned roofed stadium at the former RFK site. The design uses one continuous seating bowl rather than stacked premium tiers, with minimal overhangs, increased lower-bowl capacity and seating angles intended to bring spectators closer to the field. The roof and bowl geometry are being developed to retain and redirect crowd noise toward the field. A dedicated Wall of Fans section is planned as an affordable, concentrated supporters’ area, while a continuous system of sideline, end-zone and halo video boards wraps the bowl.
Status and timeline
Interior seating-bowl renderings released September 16, 2026. Stadium construction is planned to begin in 2027, with opening targeted for 2030.
