About this story
Ribbon Collection is a furniture and object series designed by Los Angeles studio Waka Waka for EETAL, the collaborative design platform of Japanese precision sheet-metal manufacturer Japan Benex. The collection includes an aluminum stool, tray and hanger; steel Halo and Half Halo coat racks; an EETAL edition of Waka Waka’s Cylinder Back Chair; and the steel Plus Table. Curved and rolled metal creates continuous ribbon-like outlines, with metallic finishes in black, blue, gold, sage, burgundy, and silver.
Status and timeline
The collection has completed presentations in Tokyo and Osaka. Its Los Angeles exhibition runs September 12–27, 2026, with an opening reception on September 12.
Design highlights
Sheet metal treated as a continuous drawn line; industrial bending and rolling used to create soft visual movement; saturated metallic color; translation of Waka Waka’s sculptural furniture language into repeatable Japanese manufacturing.
