Tivoli Gardens, Vesterbrogade 3, Copenhagen, Denmark
About this story
The approximately 2,000-square-metre Hikari area creates a Japan-inspired street environment within Tivoli Gardens. It includes three rides, five food venues, two shops, art and a lighting-led scenography intended to shift through the day and Tivoli’s seasons. The Demon roller coaster was incorporated as the area’s guardian figure, while new attractions include Hotel Hikari and The Typhoon’s Eye.
Status and timeline
Opened to visitors August 15, 2026. One associated design shop, Sakura, is scheduled to open later in summer 2026.
Design highlights
Layered lanterns, neon, reflective surfaces and seasonal lighting establish the area’s identity. Tivoli describes the project as developed with Danish and international advisers specializing in Japanese culture, architecture and aesthetics.
