About this story
Fondation Beyeler’s expanded ensemble adds three buildings by Atelier Peter Zumthor to the Renzo Piano-designed museum: the Wyss Museum, the Ammann Pavilion and the Erlen Gatehouse. The Wyss Museum contributes roughly 1,500 square metres of exhibition space across three floors. Restored historic buildings and newly accessible parkland add education studios, a listening salon, greenhouse, small project space and social areas. The opening exhibition Constellations occupies the museum buildings and expanded park.
Status and timeline
Phased public opening begins September 26, 2026, with limited visitor numbers and reduced opening days through January 14, 2027. Regular daily operation is planned from January 2027. The opening exhibition Constellations runs into autumn 2027.

A dispersed museum ensemble embedded in parkland rather than a single extension; movement between art, architecture and landscape; rammed-concrete and materially expressive gallery architecture; adaptive reuse of historic buildings; opening previously private landscape to visitors.
