Orchard Park, Erie County, New York, United States
About this story
The new Highmark Stadium replaces the Bills' former venue across the street in Orchard Park. Designed specifically around Buffalo's football culture and severe winter conditions, it combines a compact and steep seating bowl with a partial canopy, metal exterior, improved fan facilities, digital connectivity, and systems intended to control wind and accelerate snow clearance and melting.
Status and timeline
The stadium officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 23, 2026 and is scheduled to host the Buffalo Bills' full 2026 home season.
Design highlights
Football-specific steep bowl; weather protection without fully enclosing the field; cold-climate envelope and operational planning; snow-melt infrastructure; wind analysis; close visual relationship between spectators and field.
