About this story

The Onsite Mugak/ competition invites architecture professionals to propose temporary installations that reinterpret public space and produce new sensory and architectural experiences for the sixth International Architecture Biennial of the Basque Country. Submissions require an anonymous vertical A1 panel and descriptive and technical information, including a budget. Evaluation criteria include architectural and spatial quality, functionality and the ability to generate meaningful public experiences.

Status and timeline

Proposals are due September 18, 2026. The jury decision is scheduled for October 15, followed by execution documents by December 31. Production starts March 31, 2027; assembly starts September 27; installations open successively in the three Basque capitals on October 7, 14 and 21, 2027.
