About this story
Organized by Simon and curated by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, the sixth Living Places prize recognizes built architecture from the perspective of inhabitants and everyday use. Entries are divided into Collective Places and Personal Places. Video is the principal submission medium, supported by a written description, drawings and photographs. Eligible territories include European countries, Brazil, Mexico and, for the first time, Morocco. Each category carries a €10,000 award for the architects, and a separate distinction commissions the creator of the best audiovisual narrative to produce a new architecture film.
Status and timeline
The sixth edition is open for works completed and occupied between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2025. Pre-registration or nomination closes September 14, 2026; registration and materials are due October 5. The jury is scheduled to deliberate in November, with an award ceremony planned for February 2027.
