About this story
Miami architect, artist, sculptor, photographer and author Kenneth Treister was best known as architect and sculptor of the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach. His regional work also included the Mayfair House Hotel & Garden, Yacht Harbour Condominium, Elizabeth Virrick Park, the Sophie and Nathan Gumenick Chapel at Temple Israel and early public-housing projects. A 1953 University of Florida architecture graduate, he was a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and received major honors from AIA Miami and AIA Florida.
