Isokon and Béton Brut Launch the Marcel Breuer Masur Edition

Opening during London Design Festival this weekend, the limited collection offers a materially focused reassessment of Breuer's Isokon furniture and challenges the familiar idea that Modernist plywood should remain visually unadorned.

Isokon and Béton Brut Launch the Marcel Breuer Masur Edition

Béton Brut, Unit 2, 30 Felstead Street, London E9 5LG, United Kingdom

About this story

The Masur Edition reissues four Marcel Breuer designs from 1936—the Cut-Out Armchair, Cut-Out Chair, Isokon Nesting Tables and Isokon Dining Table—with an outer veneer of rare Northern European masur birch. Isokon is producing the pieces in small batches at its East London workshop using specialist plywood techniques. The intervention changes only the outer veneer, preserving the forms and construction logic of Breuer's originals while introducing a highly graphic surface. Béton Brut is presenting and selling the collection exclusively alongside vintage furniture and new work by David Horan.

Status and timeline

On view September 12–20, 2026 during London Design Festival. Admission is free and no ticket is required.

Design highlights

Rare decorative veneer applied to reductive Modernist forms; preservation of original plywood construction; small-batch East London manufacturing; reconsideration of historical Isokon experiments with varied timber finishes.
