About this story
HS2 has completed the first six platforms intended for its high-speed services at Old Oak Common. Each underground platform is approximately 450 metres long. The station will also contain eight above-ground platforms connecting Great Western Railway, Elizabeth line and Heathrow Express services. Current works include platform and control-building concrete structures, mechanical and electrical installation, drainage, bridges and tunnel connections.
Status and timeline
All six underground high-speed platforms have been constructed and await further fit-out. Concrete work continues on the eight above-ground conventional platforms and station-control structures. Construction remains active across the station site.

A 20-metre-deep underground station box; integration of six high-speed and eight conventional platforms; extensive landscaped public realm planned with pocket gardens, trees, shrubs, wetlands, accessible paths and spaces for community events.
