The Dallas Stars selected HNTB as lead design firm for a proposed new arena in Plano. The venue is envisioned as an intimate, energetic home-ice environment and the centerpiece of a broader mixed-use district containing sports, entertainment, retail, dining and community uses. HNTB will combine architecture, planning, engineering and district-design expertise. The project is being advanced with the ownership of The Shops at Willow Bend and follows a non-binding agreement between the team and the City of Plano.
Status and timeline
HNTB has been selected as lead designer, but the arena remains proposed and subject to continuing agreements, financing and public approvals. Plano has been advancing a venue-tax election planned for November 3, 2026; no construction schedule was stated in the August 10 design-team announcement.
