Focus Gallery, Level 2, M+, West Kowloon Cultural District, Hong Kong
About this story
M+ is presenting newly donated models, drawings and material samples from Herzog & de Meuron, the architects of the museum’s building. The display surveys built and unbuilt work developed in China since the early 2000s, including M+, Tai Kwun and Beijing’s National Stadium, as well as urban-planning projects shaped by territory and landscape. The installation references the Herzog & de Meuron Kabinett in Basel by placing the objects in exact replicas of the foundation’s wooden archival vitrines, creating an open-storage presentation focused on design process, architectural knowledge and the challenge of representing buildings inside a gallery.
