Glossário para a Cidade do Nosso Futuro com Esperança — Rio launch

A newly published interdisciplinary urbanism title connects climate change, city–nature relationships, and urban policy; its Rio launch was a timely local editorial opportunity, though the event has already passed.

About this story

Glossário para a Cidade do Nosso Futuro com Esperança is a book organized and edited by architect and professor Thereza Christina Couto Carvalho and published by Rio Books. ArchDaily reports that it brings together 47 authors from research, architecture, urban planning, and other fields, addressing urban challenges, climate change, and relations between society and nature. Its five sections cover subjects including the climate emergency, circular economy, ecological cities, mobility, green infrastructure, heritage, culture, landscape, and innovation. It includes two previously unpublished texts by landscape architect and urban planner Kongjian Yu, written shortly before his death in 2025, according to ArchDaily. The book continues the publisher’s 2021 Pequeno Glossário Ilustrado de Urbanismo. UFF independently announced an earlier June 30, 2026 presentation and describes the book as a collective work organized by professor Thereza Carvalho. ArchDaily credits Sérgio Magalhães with the preface and names contributors including Ana Célia Castro and Axel Grael. The publisher lists the book for sale. The announced September 28 event has passed.
