The Government of Jujuy has opened the Lola Mora Cultural Center, designed by César Pelli and his studio as a permanent home for the Argentine sculptor’s monumental marble works. The cultural, educational and tourism complex includes exhibition rooms, auditoriums, educational spaces, a media library, retail and dining amenities. Its construction incorporated a wind tower, access bridge, glazed envelopes and sustainable building systems. The official account emphasizes regional fabrication and materials, including stone from Abra Pampa, timber from Jujuy’s ramal region and metalwork produced in Palpalá. Six marble sculptures associated with Lola Mora have been reunited at the center after previously being displayed outdoors and in separate locations.
Status and timeline
Commissioned in 2018, with formal construction beginning in August 2022. The government announced the opening on July 1, 2026, and inaugurated the completed center on July 2, 2026. It is now open to visitors.
