About this story
Art Omi is opening TAELON7: Limbo Engawa and Michael Meredith and Hilary Sample: A Dome With Four Oculi in its Sculpture & Architecture Park. The MOS installation reinterprets the dome as a lightweight gathering place oriented outward rather than upward. Its reflective quasi-structural shell is assembled from 3-millimeter aluminum pieces joined with 3,412 stainless-steel bolts and was designed as a kit of parts that can be assembled, dismantled and relocated. Art Omi credits Michael Meredith, Hilary Sample and the wider MOS team, with engineering by Bollinger + Grohmann.
Status and timeline
Opening September 19, 2026, from 2:00–5:00 p.m. EDT. Free and open to all ages; RSVP appreciated, with walk-ins accepted.
Design highlights
A reduced-scale, four-oculus reinterpretation of the Pantheon; paper-thin reflective aluminum shingles; three triangular perimeter openings; demountable kit-of-parts construction; architecture functioning as shelter, gathering place and percussion instrument.
