United Kingdom; consultation and assessment conducted online
About this story
The Architects Registration Board proposes replacing the existing Prescribed Examination process with a three-stage route comprising eligibility review, assessment of a self-evaluation and evidence portfolio against ARB Academic Outcomes, and an online interview. Eligibility would require a qualification assessed as comparable to UK Level 7 in architecture or a relevant discipline. Candidates would still need to satisfy separate Practice Outcomes and professional experience requirements before registration.
Status and timeline
Public consultation is open through September 16, 2026. Subject to consultation and ARB Board approval, the updated examination is expected to be introduced in spring 2027.
