About this story
The American Institute of Architects is accepting applications for its 2027 Architecture Award, recognizing contemporary architecture regardless of project budget, size, style or type. Eligible entrants include owners, architects, firms, public agencies, civic organizations and public-interest groups, but each entry must identify an AIA architect member in good standing who is licensed in the United States and affiliated with the project. New construction, renovations and restorations are eligible. The fee is $450 for a project’s first submission to a project-based award program and $100 for additional submissions of the same project to other eligible programs.
Status and timeline
Submissions opened August 28, 2026 and close November 3, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Eligible projects must have been completed after January 1, 2021.
Design highlights
National peer recognition across building types, budgets and styles; broad eligibility for built work; required crediting of substantial contributors; image-rights documentation required before an award can be received.
