The project unfolds as a sensitive and respectful intervention, where the existing architecture is transformed into a dynamic and contemporary space.
Mundo Maipu commissioned Estudio Echaniz Gallo to modernize its used car headquarters on Avenida Colon, with a clear objective: to renew the interior spatiality and accompany the brand’s evolution toward a more agile, approachable, and contemporary model. Each design decision seeks to create a balanced environment that reflects the brand’s values while enhancing the user experience. The challenge was significant. The pre-existence of a mezzanine building required meticulous adaptation, respecting the original conditions while completely redefining the spatial organization. The intervention thus managed to update the structure to today’s demands without losing coherence with its initial essence.

A central axis of the project was the integration of the phygital concept, blending the physical and the digital into a unique experience. This approach translates into hybrid spaces, self-service stations, and fluid circulations that allow clients to interact with the brand in personalized ways. The functional program was resolved across two clearly defined yet visually integrated levels. The ground floor prioritizes direct attention with areas for reception, waiting, customer service, and vehicle delivery. The mezzanine, by contrast, houses sales, operations, and meeting spaces, fostering collaboration and oversight.

The staircase, designed as a protagonist, synthesizes the philosophy of the project: a functional and aesthetic connector at once. With a sober formal language and carefully selected materials, it becomes a focal point that enhances integration without creating visual barriers. The material palette was conceived around sobriety and warmth. Neutral grays and browns provide timelessness, while wood-look vinyl flooring reinforces spatial continuity and brightness. In contrast, ceramic flooring in the delivery area highlights its operational nature without disrupting overall harmony.

On the mezzanine, modular carpeting was introduced not only for its aesthetic qualities but also for its functional contributions: improving acoustics, enhancing comfort, and reinforcing a focused atmosphere in operational sectors to ensure a pleasant and efficient work environment.

Mundo Maipu’s institutional colors appear strategically in vertical planes, dividers, and graphic elements. This subtle gesture allows the brand’s identity to be perceived without imposing itself, integrating naturally into the spatial ensemble.

Furniture was designed with a modular and flexible system, adaptable to the multiple configurations required by a contemporary workspace. Lightweight partitions define semi-private areas that balance concentration and interaction, fostering a dynamic and collaborative environment.

In essence, the project by Estudio Echaniz Gallo for Mundo Maipú Usados transcends simple renovation. It is a comprehensive proposal where design, functionality, and identity converge to build a space that reinforces institutional image while significantly improving the experience of both clients and collaborators.
