Materials played a crucial role in achieving the warm, timeless aesthetic of CASA CGFR. The use of exposed concrete for the main envelopes offers a contemporary and durable appearance, while different finishes of natural wood bring warmth and a cozy touch to the interiors. Additionally, natural stone is integrated into the composition, bridging the man-made structure with the surrounding natural elements. These noble materials not only contribute to the visual appeal of the home but also ensure low maintenance over time.
As an architect, the client deeply appreciates design and spatial quality. Thus, CASA CGFR was conceived as a flexible space that caters to both family life with his two teenage sons and moments of solitude. The design emphasizes adaptability, allowing the home to accommodate different activities and moods, whether it be lively family gatherings or peaceful retreats.
To enhance the connection with the environment, much of the vertical envelope facing north was removed, creating large openings that capture panoramic views and blend the interior with the exterior. The eastern side, however, is more controlled, featuring a large opening with wooden sunscreens and intermediate spaces that allow for light and heat regulation in the interior spaces. This careful consideration ensures that the home remains in harmony with the surrounding nature while maintaining comfortable interior conditions throughout the year.
The design of CASA CGFR not only focuses on the visual and functional aspects but also takes into account the environmental context and the specific needs of the client. The result is a contemporary and minimalist home that dialogues constantly with its natural surroundings. The strategic extrusion towards the landscape allows the home to engage with the environment in a way that feels both intentional and organic, creating a living space that is at once open and protected.
The exterior spaces of CASA CGFR are as thoughtfully designed as the interiors. The entrance patio, positioned at the upper level, serves as a welcoming transition from the outside world to the intimate interior spaces. The staircase that descends to the social areas is more than just a functional element; it is a journey that gradually reveals the beauty of the landscape, offering different perspectives as one moves through the home.
Inside, the social areas are positioned to take full advantage of the views and natural light. Large windows and sliding doors open onto terraces, extending the living spaces outdoors and creating a seamless flow between inside and outside. The private areas, including the bedrooms, are carefully positioned to offer privacy while still benefiting from the natural light and views.
The use of natural materials continues inside the home, where wood and stone create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The minimalist design is softened by the textures and colors of the materials, creating a space that feels both modern and timeless. Every detail of CASA CGFR has been carefully considered, from the placement of windows to the selection of finishes, ensuring that the home is as functional as it is beautiful.
CASA CGFR by LN Arquitectura is a remarkable example of how contemporary design can respond to the natural environment and the specific needs of the client. The home’s strategic extrusion towards the landscape, the use of noble materials, and the careful consideration of light and views all contribute to a living space that is both aesthetically pleasing and functionally adaptable. CASA CGFR is not just a house; it is a home that invites its inhabitants to live in harmony with the natural world, offering a refuge that is at once connected to and protected from the surrounding landscape.
