Neutrals and Oak – Brasilia by StudioMadera

With its meticulous attention to detail and seamless integration of textures, Brasilia by StudioMadera redefines modern living. The space artfully blends Mediterranean warmth with industrial touches, creating a home that is as welcoming as it is visually striking.

At the heart of Brasilia lies the pursuit of harmony. StudioMadera has achieved this through careful material selection and a commitment to simplicity. Oak wood, a defining feature, is introduced immediately upon entry with a sculptural, fluted divider that not only separates the public and private zones but also establishes the home’s design language. This wood motif continues throughout the home, offering visual and tactile warmth that contrasts beautifully with industrial concrete beams and sophisticated stone finishes. Neutral tones, amplified by natural light, create a serene backdrop, while thoughtfully selected furnishings—such as Muuto chairs and AGO Lighting fixtures—add subtle dynamism. The result is a home that feels cohesive and serene, yet far from monotonous.

"Flexible, harmonious, and deeply inviting, Brasilia exemplifies StudioMadera’s commitment to meaningful design."

The kitchen serves as the emotional and functional hub of the home. Anchored by a striking central island, it balances expressiveness and utility. Dark cabinetry, offset by oak elements, lends depth to the space, while Ceppo di Gre stone flooring adds sophistication. Above, a daring light fixture by AGO Lighting provides a contemporary touch, its playful design echoing the interaction that unfolds in this social zone. Adjacent to the island, StudioMadera has crafted a cozy nook—a bench paired with a round table that doubles as a breakfast area or workspace. This thoughtful addition highlights the studio’s ability to merge aesthetics and practicality seamlessly.

In response to the homeowners’ needs, the layout embraces flexibility. The open-plan living and dining areas flow into one another, creating an expansive social space perfect for entertaining. The dining area, anchored by a custom oak table and Muuto chairs, is both functional and sculptural, while the concrete framework adds an industrial edge that contrasts with the warmth of the wood. To ensure privacy without compromising openness, StudioMadera has introduced acoustic curtains from Vescom. These allow the creation of a quiet work area that can easily transform back into part of the communal zone, epitomizing the home’s adaptability.

"This project reimagines urban living, proving that beauty and practicality can coexist effortlessly."

The private quarters are equally considered, with the main bedroom designed as a sanctuary. A luxurious ensuite bath features a freestanding tub and a separate shower, offering a spa-like experience. The use of natural clay on the walls not only contributes to the soothing aesthetic but also enhances comfort by regulating indoor temperature and humidity. The integration of a walk-in closet further elevates the functionality of this retreat, creating a space where practicality meets indulgence. The tactile oak surfaces and subtle lighting continue the theme of warmth and understated elegance.

One of the standout features of Brasilia is the transformation of the existing terrace into a verdant indoor garden. Visible from almost every corner of the home’s social areas, this garden breathes life into the interior while maintaining a strong connection to the outside world. Sunlight filters through the foliage, casting dynamic shadows that enhance the overall ambiance. The garden not only serves as a visual focal point but also enriches the sensory experience of the home, creating a tranquil counterpoint to the bustling city beyond.

Every element in Brasilia has been selected with intention. Ceppo di Gre stone, with its bluish-gray undertones, lends a sense of sophistication, while the oak wood provides grounding warmth. The use of natural clay walls is both an aesthetic and functional decision, supporting the home's sustainable ethos while adding a textural element that engages the senses. The interplay of these materials is enhanced by the neutral color palette, which allows the textures to shine. Together, they create a cohesive narrative that feels contemporary yet timeless.

The minimalist approach to furnishing ensures the architecture and materials remain the focus. Pieces by &Tradition and Muuto, paired with StudioMadera’s custom designs, reflect a commitment to craftsmanship. These understated yet elegant choices emphasize the studio’s belief that design should support, rather than overshadow, daily living. Brasilia by StudioMadera is a masterclass in balancing function with beauty. Its thoughtful layout, exquisite materiality, and flexible design cater perfectly to modern lifestyles. By blending Mediterranean warmth with industrial accents, the home transcends trends, offering a timeless space where every detail has a purpose.
