Minimalism – Casa Granero by Fabric Estudio

Casa Granero redefines modern residential architecture through its minimalist forms and meticulous attention to natural light, crafting a space that is both expansive and deeply rooted in its natural surroundings. This residence is a study in architectural purity. The design’s focus on simple geometric forms allows the natural beauty of the surroundings to take center stage. The expansive use of glass throughout the structure invites the landscape into the home, blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. The careful placement of windows and openings not only floods the interiors with light but also frames the picturesque views of the sierras, making the natural environment an integral part of the living experience.

Casa Granero is characterized by the interaction of two independent gabled volumes, connected by a glazed corridor that accentuates the panoramic views of the sierras. The distinct morphology of these volumes, defined by pure and simple shapes, underscores the modern aesthetic of the home. Large recessed openings in the walls allow abundant natural light to flood the interiors, framing the landscape and fostering a fluid connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

The floor plan is organized into two separate volumes. The first houses the social areas, including an integrated kitchen, dining room, and living space that extend to a north-facing open gallery. The second, more private volume, includes two independent bedrooms with a shared bathroom, and a master suite at the far end, offering privileged views and an en-suite bathroom.

The exterior cladding, composed of light-colored fiber cement siding, creates an elegant contrast with the black openings, further highlighting the purity of the volumes. This contrast is softened by a fluid, curvilinear landscape design, which complements the geometric rigidity of the structure and harmonizes the overall architectural ensemble.
