Luminous Living – Casa SERMA by PUERTA35 Arquitectura
Casa SERMA is a testament to the integration of light and views, two fundamental concepts championed by PUERTA35 ARQUITECTURA, a studio renowned for its expertise in creating unique homes where interior design and architecture merge seamlessly.
Situated in a residential area with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean, Casa SERMA leverages the site's topography to create an entrance at a lower level relative to the exterior space. This design choice enhances privacy while offering expansive views.

The exterior of Casa SERMA features a coherent treatment that ensures privacy on the lateral sides with a closed design, while the front and back open up with large glass panels, allowing for an unobstructed connection between the interior spaces and the breathtaking views.
The architectural form is defined by vertical and horizontal planes in white, capped with a cornice that unifies the structure. The façade is accompanied solely by silver aluminum and glass, with natural light playing a crucial role in the overall aesthetic.
The horizontal plane is resolved with large-format stone paving, maintaining continuity between the interior and exterior, seamlessly integrating the large windows beneath the pavement level. Inside, the white vertical walls contrast with the green backdrop of the exterior garden.
Interior lighting is designed with linear indirect light, supplemented by integrated point lights with an invisible beam, creating a harmonious and inviting atmosphere.
Outside, natural surfaces dominate, with exterior pathways made from the same stone material as the interior, creating a seamless flow. The pool is an extension of the interior and exterior paving, and the street-facing fence, made of grey vertical slats, hints at the design from the public space.
Casa SERMA spans three levels: the first level, at street level, houses parking and storage spaces; the second level contains the day area and exterior zones; and the third level is dedicated to the bedrooms.
The day area connects directly with the rear garden and pool. A central element organizes the space, featuring a large library and kitchen, around which the open-plan living and dining areas revolve. Large sliding doors blur the lines between interior and exterior, creating a unified space. The kitchen island, a sculptural stone piece with rich texture, adds character to the area. The night area includes a grand suite with ocean views and two bedrooms connected to the garden and pool, ensuring each space within Casa SERMA is both functional and visually stunning.
