Few openings speak as intimately of passion and perseverance as the new ALTER Design Group showroom. This space is not just a showroom—it is the manifestation of a dream: a place where vision, craftsmanship, and client care converge in the service of beauty and precision. From kitchens to closets, every detail tells a story of intention.
Located at 6399 Biscayne Blvd. in the emerging MiMo District—a neighborhood known for its revivalist modernist charm—the showroom marks a pivotal moment for ALTER Design Group. Founded in 2021 by architect Sailin Gonzalez, the firm quickly established itself as a connector between the refined manufacturing traditions of Italy and the dynamic needs of South Florida living. Her path from working at a dining table at home to creating a fully realized showroom is both inspiring and emblematic of the firm’s ethos: intimate, client-driven, and uncompromising in quality. The space offers a seamless, tactile journey through curated vignettes of domestic life. Kitchens from Copatlife sit at the entry, showcasing how innovation in materials and flexible configurations can transform a functional space into a work of architecture. Copatlife’s systems combine “avant-garde materials and technologies” with thoughtful modularity, creating kitchens that are “a set of elegance, project and innovation,” as described by Federico Filippuzzi. Beyond the kitchens, visitors are introduced to the living systems and wardrobes of Olivieri, a heritage company with nearly a century of experience. CEO Michele Sartini notes that their hybrid approach—where artisanal detail meets industrial capability—makes them ideal for projects where customization and integration are key. “Our structure creates projects from entrance to closet,” he says, “with decoration and detail at the heart of each solution.” Complementing these are doors by Doal and GD Dorigo, bathrooms by Arbi, and outdoor systems by Vitinox and Maior—each selected for their innovation, finish range, and ability to elevate everyday life.

ALTER Design Group’s work goes far beyond product selection. It’s about creating spaces that are deeply personal—reflecting the rhythms of each client’s life and the personality of their space. Gonzalez, who personally oversees each design, ensures that “functionality, quality and aesthetics are never compromised,” and that the journey from consultation to installation remains rooted in respect, responsiveness, and refined taste.

What makes this showroom distinct is the way it combines international expertise with local sensibility. Michele Broggin, an expert in Italian brands and long-time collaborator with Gonzalez, emphasizes that ALTER Design Group excels in creating “complete homes, where each product can be matched and combined with textures and finishes to build a very high-level project.” This integrative approach—versus selling isolated furniture pieces—is what sets the firm apart. In doing so, the showroom becomes a design partner, not a vendor—a tactile, idea-rich environment where homeowners, designers and architects can co-create.

From the moment one enters the showroom, there is a sensory narrative at play. Matte woods blend with mirrored lacquers. Handleless cabinetry folds into architecture. Glass doors frame spaces, not just separate them. The tactility of finishes—grained, brushed, polished—invites not just admiration, but interaction. It’s a place to touch, explore, and imagine.

Each brand is a specialist in its own domain, but together they form a composition of continuity—kitchens by Copatlife, closets and modular walls by Olivieri, bathrooms by Arbi, doors by GD Dorigo and Doal, and stainless steel solutions for outdoor kitchens and marine installations by Vitinox. This wide yet curated offering allows ALTER Design Group to design for the totality of a home, ensuring consistency across material palettes, proportions, and lifestyle needs.

Importantly, the company’s commitment to sustainability is embedded, not performative. Products are designed for longevity, materials are responsibly sourced, and the emphasis is on timelessness rather than trend. This is what Gonzalez refers to as “real luxury”—design that respects both people and planet.

The showroom launch, celebrated with live music, food, and a warm gathering of clients and collaborators, was more than an event—it was a homecoming. “I hope that when they arrive, they feel at home,” Gonzalez shared. That wish is not only fulfilled but embodied in every corner of the space.
