At the heart of the social area, an existing structural column is completely clad in mirror, visually reducing its mass while reflecting light, furniture and surrounding greenery. Warm pau ferro timber details soften its edges and introduce a subtle retro quality, while the same wood becomes a recurring thread throughout the apartment’s custom millwork. This material continuity is particularly evident in the entertaining area, conceived less as a traditional kitchen than as a residential bar. With no cooktop or stove, floor-to-ceiling pau ferro cabinetry instead integrates a wine cellar, beer refrigerator and a custom niche for barware and accessories. A polished granite island anchors the composition, its gently curved edge echoed in the adjacent wall cladding and in the softer geometries found throughout the apartment. The adjoining dining area is centred around a generous timber table surrounded by softly upholstered chairs in muted reddish tones, positioned against the filtered light of the garden-facing windows and maintaining a direct visual relationship with both the landscape and the living room. Together, timber, stone and gently curved forms establish a continuous material language across the social spaces, creating an atmosphere that feels sophisticated yet deliberately informal – equally suited to entertaining, conversation and everyday family life.

The main living area expands this idea of relaxed sociability through furniture characterised by generous proportions and rounded silhouettes. A curved blue sofa anchors the room, while custom pieces by Líder define the dining area, including a substantial table and chairs with rounded backs upholstered in a red-and-blue fabric that produces a rich cherry hue. Nearby, a low wine-coloured leather armchair was intentionally selected to preserve uninterrupted views toward the trees and sky, creating a quiet corner that has also become a favourite place for the family's dog. Beside the indoor garden, another round table provides a flexible setting for everyday meals and leisure activities. Four chairs upholstered in tweed-like blue-and-white and navy-and-white fabrics surround it, complemented by a terracotta lacquered sideboard. Beneath, a circular rug softens the apartment's angular geometry and creates an embracing gesture, reinforcing a 180-degree relationship between interior and landscape.

A Verde Labrador quartzite vanity introduces natural depth and a sophisticated material contrast. In the everyday kitchen, cabinetry is finished entirely in a retro-inspired sage green, including auxiliary storage supporting the pantry. A stone table transforms the room into an inviting setting for casual meals, ensuring that even this functional space participates in the home's emphasis on gathering. Art also plays an important role throughout the apartment. Selected collaboratively with the homeowners, works from their existing collection naturally complement the interior palette, strengthening the relationship between personal history and the newly conceived architecture. Rather than functioning as decorative additions, these pieces become integral to the chromatic and emotional composition of the residence. Beside the mirrored structural column, a round chaise lounge is positioned toward these views, creating a dedicated place for reading, quiet contemplation and watching the sunset. It has become one of the family's preferred corners and encapsulates the essence of the project. Through thoughtful spatial connections, tactile materials and colours borrowed from nature, Frezza e Figueiredo creates a home where contemporary architecture and sophistication are inseparable from comfort – and where the landscape becomes an active participant in the experience of living.

More expressive gestures emerge in the apartment's supporting spaces. Reflecting the homeowners' appreciation for floral motifs, the powder room is wrapped in wallpaper featuring abundant cherry blossoms, whose branching forms echo the organic language established throughout the social areas. The private wing translates the same architectural language into a quieter and more intimate register. Wood flooring immediately warms the primary bedroom, where a striped upholstered bed introduces a refined, tailored quality. An artwork selected for the room echoes colours found throughout the social areas, while warm greige wood panelling creates a serene backdrop. In the primary bathroom, a custom vanity with oversized rounded chrome pulls becomes a sculptural focal point, complemented by a freestanding bathtub that reinforces the room's sense of retreat. The children's bedrooms continue the use of timber panelling while responding individually to their occupants. One combines warm gray wood with plaid fabric wall covering inspired by classic menswear tailoring, while the other pairs beige-toned panelling with a pinstripe-inspired textile and linen curtains detailed with delicate red stripes. Applied directly to the walls, these fabrics bring softness and texture, creating distinctive environments for a child passionate about music and another who enjoys reading.

The project's strongest expression of indoor-outdoor living is found in the garden, conceived not as a backdrop but as an open-air extension of the residence. Twelve lightweight concrete planters form a sequence of fruit trees, including Sicilian lemons, pomegranates, olives, mulberries and kumquats, creating the atmosphere of a private orchard. Visible throughout the social areas, the planting introduces movement, colour and seasonal change into everyday life, strengthening the connection between architecture and landscape.

Ultimately, the residence is shaped by a careful balance between refinement and familiarity, where architecture provides the framework for a deeply personal way of living. Rather than relying on a single defining gesture, Frezza e Figueiredo builds its character through the accumulation of thoughtful details – the warmth of timber, the softness of textiles, the presence of art, the changing colours of the landscape and spaces designed around the rituals of everyday life. The result is an interior that feels composed without becoming formal, sophisticated without sacrificing comfort, and distinctly contemporary while remaining intimately connected to the people who inhabit it.
